ANSI '87 Option

for the FONIX 6500-CX

The ANSI Option is now known as the ANSI '87 Option and provides automated tests for special purpose hearing aids, in addition to the tests that have been in use since 1976.

The difference between the '82 and the '87 versions of the standard is that in the latter, when testing special purpose hearing aids, such as high frequency emphasis aids, the manufacturer can choose frequencies other than the usual 1000, 1600, and 2500 Hz. whenever averages are called for. Since averages are used throughout the test sequence, almost all measurements are affected, when the special frequencies are used.

The following sets of frequencies are available by menu.

800, 1250, 2000
1000, 1600, 2500
1250, 2000, 3150
1600, 2500, 4000
2000, 3150, 5000

When special frequencies are chosen, harmonic distortion measurements will be made corresponding to the SPA (special purpose average) frequencies divided by 2.

Harmonic Distortion Frequencies

400, 650, 1000
500, 800, 1600
650, 1000, 1600
800, 1250, 2000
1000, 1600, 2500

This enhancement of the ANSI Option in no way slows the operation of the option in the normal mode. It simply allows for the flexibility needed to test the large variety of hearing aids available today.

New FONIX 6500-CX units ordered with the ANSI Option will automatically receive the new version. Existing units can be upgraded.

The ANSI option also includes ANSI '92 and is available for the 6500-CX and FP40
