The FONIX computer programs: FONIX Press & Go, FONIX NOAH Module, and WinCHAP each have different strengths and were designed for different purposes. It’s important to understand the features of each program in determining which program will work the best for you.

FONIX Press & Go
FONIX Press & Go is our simplest program. It was originally designed for use by teachers of the deaf to perform quick coupler measurements of hearing aids and FM systems. Its features include a Test Wizard that uses customizable pictures and text to guide the user through the hearing aid test sequence. It also has an automatic feature available that runs through four preprogrammed measurement curves without user intervention between measurements.

FONIX Press & Go is simple and easy to use. It’s suitable for a clinic that wants to perform coupler measurements to establish a baseline after the hearing aid has been programmed or to determine whether a hearing aid may be in need of repair. It has no real-ear capabilities. Test results can be imported to the FONIX NOAH Module, but FONIX Press & Go uses a standalone database and does not run within NOAH.

FONIX NOAH Module
The FONIX Real-ear NOAH Module is used for performing real-ear and coupler multicurve measurements with your FONIX hearing aid analyzer. DSL i/o and NAL-NL1 targets are available. This program turns the FONIX hearing aid analyzer into a “black box,” meaning that instead of pushing buttons on the analyzer to start and stop measurements and to adjust test settings, most operations are performed from your computer. Test results are updated in real-time on the NOAH display. ANSI and IEC automated tests are not currently supported.

The FONIX Audiometer NOAH Module is used for performing audiometric measurements with your FONIX audiometer. The audiometer can be controlled remotely from NOAH, or it can be set to “listen” to the audiometer and record test results automatically while you use the knobs and dials on your audiometer. The audiometer support for this module is more advanced than the audiometer support available in WinCHAP.

All data for both NOAH modules is saved into the NOAH database. (Only NOAH 3 is supported.) These modules are recommended for clinicians who use NOAH 3 in their office, who want to perform real-ear measurements, and who don’t need to store ANSI or IEC test results.

The FONIX NOAH Module has offically been certified by HIMSA.

WinCHAP
WinCHAP is a standalone database program with an extensive feature list. All kinds of information about the hearing aid and client can be entered, including warranty, repair, client services, and insurance data. Supported hearing aid tests include ANSI, IEC, JIS, Coupler Multicurve, and Real-ear measurements. These tests can be run from the computer or collected from the analyzer after the test has been completed. Client tests include Audiometric testing (with support for FONIX audiometers) and DSL/NAL-NL1 fitting.
WinCHAP is our most complete database program and is useful for clinicians and researchers who want to store their hearing aid and audiometric test data outside of NOAH. It is the only program that supports the ANSI, IEC, and JIS automated test sequences.

FONIX Troubleshooter
Frye Electronics has just approved a new program called Troubleshooter for the 7000 and the FP35. This is a separate NOAH 3 computer program that provides electro-acoustic coupler measurements to make sure that the hearing aid is functioning properly, meeting the manufacturer's specification, and any repair was done properly. This program has ANSI tests, Multi-Curve, and a Profiler sections that uses the Broad Band Digital Speech signal for measurement. All data goes to the NOAH 3 database.

The FONIX Troubleshooter has offically been certified by HIMSA.
